5th Anniversary Wood Gift

The traditional 5th anniversary gift is wood. Send vows, a voicemail, a quote, a laugh, or a wedding song — I turn that audio into handcrafted wooden soundwave art.

The fifth anniversary is the wood year. That does not have to mean a board or a frame.

It can be a sound you already have: the vows, a voicemail from that morning, a laugh from the reception, a line you still say to each other, or the wedding song. I turn that recording into wooden soundwave art — the actual waveform, cut and finished by hand in Albany, New York.

Any audio that still means something is enough. It does not have to be a song.

Why wood for year five

The traditional fifth-anniversary gift is wood because it is supposed to last. A printed waveform on paper does not do that. A layered wooden sculpture does.

Couples order this when they want the anniversary to feel specific. Not “a nice gift.” Our words. Our voices. That day.

If you are early or late — year four, year six, a vow renewal — the same piece still works. The “wood year” is just why a lot of people look now.

What you can send

If you can play it, I can usually build it.

Words and vows

  • Wedding vows (ceremony clip or a reread into your phone)
  • The “I do”
  • A quote you both use
  • A letter you read out loud and record
  • Names, a promise, a single sentence

Voices

  • A voicemail from the wedding morning or from the years since
  • A laugh
  • “Happy anniversary”
  • A message one of you recorded and never sent
  • A parent’s toast from the reception video

Other sounds from that day

  • First dance or wedding song (the whole track is not required)
  • A toast
  • Walking-down-the-aisle audio
  • A clip from the wedding video, with the timestamp

Anything else that belongs to the two of you

  • A child’s voice saying your names
  • A pet, if that is part of the story
  • A short home video with clear sound

You do not need studio audio. A phone recording is fine. If the file is messy, send it anyway — I will tell you if we need a cleaner section.

Song or not a song — how to choose

Choose the vows or a voice if the words are what you want in the room.
Choose a song if the first dance is still the thing that gets you.
Choose a voicemail or laugh if that is the file you would be wrecked to lose.
Choose two smaller pieces if you want vows in one room and a voice or song in another.

If you are stuck, email me two options. I will tell you which section will read more clearly in wood.

What I make

Handcrafted wooden soundwave art from your actual audio:

  • Real wood, cut and layered
  • Hand stained or painted (browns, navy, gray, or red)
  • About 19–22 inches tall
  • 2, 3, 4, or 5 feet wide
  • French cleat on larger pieces

No two boards match. No two recordings match.

This is not a print of a generic wave. It is your file.

How to send the audio

Any of these work:

  • Upload the file at checkout (voice memo, MP3, M4A, wedding-video clip)
  • Email it to claudia@cliacreations.com
  • Paste a YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Music link plus start/end times if you are using a song
  • Tell me the timestamp if the vows or toast live inside a long ceremony video

If you only have words written down and no recording, you can read them into your phone and send that. The voice is part of the piece.

How to order

  1. Pick the audio — vows, voice, quote, laugh, song, or a clip from the day
  2. Choose size and color in the shop
  3. Send the file or link
  4. I build, finish, and ship — most pieces leave within 5 business days
  5. If the anniversary is close, say so when you order

If you are giving it as a surprise

You do not have to explain the process. A card can be short:

Year five is wood. This is your voice.

These are the vows. I still mean them.

This is the sound from that day.

If you cannot ask your spouse which file to use, look at the wedding video, an old voicemail, or the note they have recorded in their own voice. A sentence is enough.

Frequently asked questions

Does it have to be our wedding song?
No. Vows, voicemails, quotes, laughs, toasts, and short voice notes are all used — often more than songs.

I only have a few words written down.
Read them into your phone and send that file. Or send a clip of the original vows if you have the video.

Can I use a voicemail?
Yes. Those are some of the pieces people keep longest.

Can I add our names and the date?
Yes. Many people add names, the wedding date, and “Year five.”

Can you hear the audio from the art?
No. The piece is the shape of the sound. Keep the original file if you want to play it.

What size works over a bed or sofa?
Three to four feet is the usual living-room size. Five feet reads as a statement. A queen bed is a useful width check.

How close can I cut it to the anniversary?
Most orders ship within 5 business days. If you are inside that window, email me before you order.

Is this the same as printed soundwave art?
No. Those are prints. I build these from wood.

If year five already passed

Order it anyway. The date on the piece can be the wedding date, the fifth anniversary, or nothing at all — only the sound.
